The temperatures finally dropped in Las Vegas and you know what that means: Mini Session Season!
Mini Sessions are designed to be a smaller version of a full session, think 15 minutes- 20 tops. Many Las Vegas photographers offer mini sessions with holiday or specialized themes based on the occasion or season. Mini sessions are not a big investment and are the perfect way to get “a few photos” or even test out a new photographer before you invest into a full session. If you end up loving your photos you could always purchase more or schedule a heirloom session! Here is are 4 easy ways to prep for your mini session.
Decide on outfits right away. The closer you wait the more stressful it can become! These are short and sweet sessions so the more relaxed you are leading up to it the better! Don’t over think it! Just eat before you get dressed and get dressed all the way before you leave– this is IMPORTANT.
Get the kids excited! Talk about the mini session starting a few days before photoshoot and let them know it will be fun! We will tell jokes and play a couple games. Usually, the less pressure they feel the more open they will be in front of the camera. That can make for some pretty sweet moments. If all else fails and you want to work with bribery, I’m here for it.
Dirt Check: Shoes and fingernails! Shoes don’t have to be brand new, but if they are well worn and tattered it will stick out in the photos. Same with fingernails. Clean those babies and cut them short. It seems so little, but believe me, it’s the details that count!
Plan to arrive 5-10 minutes early. This allows for any last minute wardrobe adjustments- shirts tucked, necklaces straightened, smooth fly-aways, etc.
Mini sessions are such a fun and low pressure way for Las Vegas families to get into the holiday spirit. Perfect for welcoming the new fall and winter season or even having your photographer personalize and design the yearly holiday cards for you. Ask me about that here! Check 2 things off your list at the same time!
Don’t forget to double check a few details as you prep for your fall mini session! This will ensure you arrive to your family’s mini session confident and ready to make some great photos. Looking forward to it!
