Your Guide For Nostalgic Photos This Season

That time of year is starting again! Santa mini sessions in Las Vegas are officially kicking off with the start of the school year. Because, let’s face it, photographers can’t help but to start planning Christmas in July. Santa photos have been capturing the magic of the season for generations, creating those cherished keepsakes we look back on for years to come.  It’s all about bottling up that wide-eyed wonder and nostalgia of childhood. But let’s be real – somethings never change, little ones can be a *bit* hesitant around a big guy in a red suit! No worries, let’s get prepped! 

1. Be Dressed and Ready (and PJs are okay too!)

Think about your outfits ahead of time. Do you want matching PJs? Festive dresses? Whatever makes your family feel the holiday spirit! Just be sure to arrived dressed and ready to go! This helps maximize our time and keeps the little ones happy.

2  Arrive Just a Smidge Early

I know, I know, life gets hectic! But plan to just **5-10 minutes early**  It can make a world of difference. It gives you a chance to settle in, let the kids adjust the studio, and ensures we can start the session on time, without any rushing or delays.

3. Explain the “Magic” of the Lights

To get those magical, glowing photos, the studio will use professional lighting, which means the regular overhead lights will be off. This might surprise little ones expecting a room full of twinkling Christmas lights! Show them example photos from my Santa mini sessions in Las Vegas and explain that the children and Santa are under a spotlight. It’s a big bright light that helps create those magical glowing photos.

4. Keep it Low Pressure!

The most important thing? No pressure! Let your kids know they don’t have to talk to Santa or sit on his lap if they are feeling hesitant. We are all about making it a fun experience, not a forced one. Sometimes being just close enough and letting them warm up in their own way will be magical enough.

Ultimately, these sessions are all about capturing a fleeting, magical moment in your family’s story.
