Picture day has so much invested into it. Once you have outfits coordinated and your date scheduled, everything is smooth sailing. You have prepared everything to be perfect for your professional family photos. You even remembered to pack a change of clothes.
And what perfect day wouldn’t be complete without BRIBERY. Yep, good old fashioned bribery. Some people frown upon this, but my super professional opinion as a children’s photographer: It’s OK!
If you decide to bring treats, consider foods that won’t stain and are easy to eat, such as mini marshmallows or gummies. Sweets aren’t their thing? You know them best, would cash coax a smile out? Or even bring a favorite (small) toy from home.
I take a few minutes before each session to hang out with you and chat. I’ll introduce myself and try to get your child familiar with me. Kids typically love talking about things that interest them, and a little interaction before the session is a wonderful way to break the ice. By the time we begin your session, introductions have been made and we’re off to a good vibe.
If your little one won’t sit still…… I’ll chase them. Yep, you read that right. 9/10 times toddlers are (literally) running the show. And that’s OK too! Those can make for beautiful photos. If you have a shy child your session will probably include more cuddles. My goal is to capture your family in that moment. Don’t worry if things don’t go as planned, they are unfolding exactly how they are supposed to. Be in the moment and embrace the chaos because your family photos are going to be beautiful.
